Two elements remain unchanged, however; Riley Logan, Seth's ever present and almost detrimentally loyal companion continues to fight alongside his best friend, and besides Riley, there still remains hardly anyone who they can truly trust. While many new characters seem to initially have Seth's best interest at heart, very few can ultimately resist the forces of avarice and cupidity for power that drive them to betray young Seth in his time of greatest need for loyalty and protection. While Seth and Riley now face far fiercer and bloodthirsty opponents as they venture further away from their once quiet island home of Marianna, through it all, Seth wisely continues to follow and yield to the ancient wisdom willing to guide him. As events unfold, it becomes increasingly difficult to conceal his identity from Seth himself, and as more about him is revealed, he cannot help but draw even more undesired attention. Ready or not, however, and even with countless other questions still swirling around in his mind, the time has come to no longer run, but to instead face and fight his adversaries to the finish. Whether it will be to his or his enemies' demise remains yet to be seen.

Somewhat bittersweet is reaching the end of this book. Bitter, for obvious reasons, it's over, but sweet because rumors of Book 3 being in the works are currently circulating. I wholeheartedly recommend The Obsidian Gates (Heart of The Warrior Series - Book 2) by C. R. Richards and the entire series, in fact, to readers in search of a unique take on an epic adventure chronicling and epitomizing courage, bravery, loyalty, friendship, and so much more.
